About Me

Hi, I'm James!
My background? 16 years in corporate procurement in the UK and Germany, in the automotive and FMCG industries. I've done direct and indirect procurement, worked in Fortune 500 companies and family-owned businesses. After corporate life, I became a freelance consultant before running my own business full time. I can work in English, German, and (almost) in Spanish.

I split my time between advising procuretech startups, and running Entrepreneurial Procurement: a No Code Apps and research-based business that helps practitioners adopt the right procurement tools. After reviewing 400+ solution providers' websites (many of which are frankly quite poor), I've seen how procurement tech companies often struggle to articulate their value.

Since 2019, I've been location independent, pursuing more sunshine, freedom, and quality of life. I spend my summers in the mountains of Bulgaria and winters in the friendly, hidden gem of Asunción, Paraguay. Living in emerging markets opens your mind and changes how you see the world. I'm very grateful for this.

I'm an active content creator on LinkedIn and I host The Procurement Software Podcast where we dig into what's new in this space. I also write a weekly newsletter, and have spoken at industry conferences in the US and UK, as well as several vendor-hosted invite only events.
